“I have been around animals my whole life.”
I have had the good fortune to be raised on a farm in the Midwest. As far back as I can remember I would care for any sick or injured animal. That included all wild and domestic animals. If it would walk, run, fly, slither, or swim I would try to cure its ills. I would take home sick or unwanted livestock from local farmers. My mother was ok with this as long as my animals stayed out in the barn. Come to think of it, the only rule was that no animals were allowed in the house.
By the time I reached high school age most of the local farmers knew me and some would even ask for my advice concerning animal care. As I grew older those same locals were the ones who pointed me in the direction of Veterinary medicine. “You’re so good with animals, you ought to be a Vet.” They would all tell me. Well, in those days I didn’t give anything much thought. So as soon as I graduated high school I was off to Iowa State University to be a Veterinarian. I loved to study animal medicine and I finished their 8-year Veterinary program in just 6 years.
I graduated in 1980 and on the very day we threw our caps in the air I was off to Ft. Lauderdale Florida. I couldn’t wait to start practicing medicine. I wanted to live in Florida because I was so tired of the cold winter weather up north. Once settled in Florida I soon found myself working a regular Veterinary office in the daytime and an emergency clinic at night. I loved the extra excitement and experiences from the emergency clinic. I think that experience has made me a better doctor.
By 1984 I opened a small Veterinary clinic on Glades road and 441 in Boca Raton. It was called the Shadowood Animal Clinic. At Shadowood I was the only doctor so I had to gain experience in all aspects of medicine and surgery. I also became interested in rescue work and I donated my time at the Boca Animal Shelter.
All of this was good but my practice was growing so rapidly that I needed bigger facilities. So in 1991 we started the Clint Moore Animal Hospital and we have been growing ever since. We now have multiple doctors and Veterinary externs on staff as well as a group of specialists on call. Our practice offers the most advanced procedures and medications available today. Yet, we pride ourselves in our high level of compassion and care for the animals and clients who come to the Clint Moore Animal Hospital.
Sincerely,
Dr. Butzer
